Independence day

Happy Independence day! Almost anywhere you turn, some race was on! In Broward, 2, in Dade, 1, & so on. I chose to join my run racing team Runner's Depot & each member that raced, placed. I finally broke the 19+ drought & avenged the loss from the same location, different race. However, I traded a master win & $200 for 3rd in age group for the redemption; a heavy price.

Anniversery

Today marks the 1 yr Anniversery of the death of 2 icons, the king of pop, Michael Jackson & my poster pin up favorite as a child, Farah Fawlett. The latter chose the wrong day to die (as if there is a right one) because she is largely overshadowed by the former. Rest in peace. This day is a stark reminder of the reality of life-life is short. Praise the Lord for whatever abilities we have, like running. Train & race while you can; I know I will.

Summer time!

Today marks the first day of summer, despite the fact that the heat & humidity began way before that, like months! It is difficult to train, and worse, race in this weather but any competitor knows it is a must! Other than severe injury, a true athlete will train & compete no matter what. We know that we must use due care. What comes to mind at this point is that I strongly urge all to hydrate & hydrate often. Make the appropriate adjustments in your routine & have fun. I know I will!
